The Last Spike Brewery is Canada’s Largest dedicate partner brewery. The brewery consists of a 100 bbl brewhouse, 20 bbl pilot brewhouse, centrifuge and pasteurization systems, and fully automated can & keg fillers. Located in Calgary Alberta, the Last Spike Brewery began production in late 2018. AH Consulting worked with developers from the start providing engineering consulting and project management services for the selection and installation of all brewing, utility and packaging equipment.

In 2017, Brunswick Bierworks opened a new facility with a 50 bbl brewhouse and 20 bbl pilot system. This expansive facility, complete with fully automated packaging equipment, takes a novel ‘Partnership’ approach to brewing by contracting out their equipment and expertise to local and international brewers. AH Consulting provided engineering consulting and project management services for this turn-key project and continues to provide support as the facility expands their cellar capacity and integrates additional packaging equipment.

In 2017, AHCL undertook a plant-wide energy audit at the Okanagan Spring Brewery in Vernon, BC. The study was funded in part by BC Hydro’s PowerSmart Program. Deliverables for this project included; an energy-map detailing how electrical and thermal energy is used at the brewery; a list of energy conservation measures with associated benefits, risks & costs; feasibility studies for select energy conservation projects; and a recommended course of action. The study focused primarily on compressed air, process cooling, space cooling, steam & process heat, motors & drives and lighting.

AHCL’s own dynamic duo, Alf and Doug Hunter, have teamed up with a local crew to open a brewery in their home town of Chatham Ontario. The Sons of Kent Brewing Company opened its doors in June of 2017 with a 7 bbl brewhouse. In 2019 AHCL was back on site helping the team install a new 30 hl brewhouse to increase capacity and keep up with their growing demand. AHCL provided engineering and project management services for both the original installation and expansion.

AH Consulting collaborated with a brewing equipment manufacturer to provide a turn-key brewery in Calgary’s historic Costigan House on 17th Ave. AHCL worked with the mechanical and structural engineering teams to prepare the building then managed the installation of the 12 hl brewhouse, cellar tanks, process piping and utility equipment.

Having outgrown their original location, The Old Yale Brewing Company opened a new facility with a 20 bbl brewhouse in 2016. AH Consulting took this turn-key project from start to finish; hiring and managing consultants for structural and mechanical upgrades to the building, administering and overseeing the design and selection of brewing and ancillary equipment and providing project management throughout the installation.

In December of 2016, The Bellwoods Brewery opened a second Toronto location complete with a four-vessel 30 hl brewhouse and fully automated bottling line. AHCL created the layout for the brewing components and packaging equipment. AHCL also provided consulting services; outlining the necessary utility and structural upgrades to prepare the building for the installation of a brewery and providing a recommended step-by-step course of action.

The Wellington Brewery underwent an expansion at their Guelph location in 2016. A new five-vessel, 40 hl brewhouse and 5 hl pilot system were installed alongside fully automated canning and bottling lines. AHCL designed the process flow and layout for the packaging components and provided consulting services to support the installation of the new brewhouses.

In 2014, the Red Truck Beer Company completed a new brewery located in Vancouver British Columbia to meet the rising demands for their beer. AH Consulting was in charge of installing and commissioning their 60 HL brewhouse with fully automated packaging equipment.

In 2015 Big Rock entered the west coast craft beer market with a new facility located in the heart of Vancouver, the Big Rock Urban Brewery. AH Consulting oversaw the design and implementation of an energy efficient 20 BBL brewery and 3.5 BBL pilot system.

AH Consulting worked with Postmark Brewing to ensure that the utility services in their building were sufficient for their brewing equipment. AHCL also provided support for the selection and procurement of a 15 BBL combi-system and ancillary equipment for their Vancouver facility.
